*Last week, Mikhai and I went to my godmother’s place for dinner and when we were leaving, she was trying to get him to say bye, but being the stubborn monster that he is, he wouldn’t say it. BUT! The entire way home he was just a jabbering, (saying bye-bye). “Ba. Ba. Ba-ba.” He sounds like Donald duck! I told ms. Tee that’s who I thought he sounded like and she told me that she never would have thought of that, but after listening to him talk for a little bit, he sure does! Lol.
*He also is getting into things that he’s not supposed to be able to get in to until he’s older, MUCH older! He can open the cupboard doors in the kitchen and bathrooms. The doors under the microwave stand are held closed by magnets. He knows how to open those doors too. He can also open the drawers from my mom’s filing cabinet (they have handles that he pulls on). This little boy is too smart for his own darn good. If he is crawling somewhere and you stand in front of him to block him, he will try to go around your feet. If you step in the direction that he is trying to go around, he will move to the other side and try to go that way. One evening, he was trying to get the phone from his Papa. He spent a solid five minutes trying to get the phone out of his Papa’s hand. He figured out that he couldn’t get it one way, so he would move around Papa’s leg and try to get it that way. When that didn’t work, he tried something else. He was bound and determined to get that phone. The concentration on his face was amazing. Of course his Papa didn’t let him have it, but to watch him try and get it….
*This weekend his Grama and I noticed that he can stand up with out having to hang on to something. He was even doing this on Grama’s bed and that’s not a very steady surface!
*Yesterday Papa got breakfast tacos from Bigotes and Mikhai spent the entire time we were eating, walking between me, Grama and Papa getting bites of our tacos. I really shouldn’t let him do that, cuz when he’s older he will think that’s okay.
*Oh! And boy does the kid have a set of lungs when he wants to use them!!!! He hates, hates, HATES to be penned in. I figured out a way to keep Mikhai from going into the kitchen (by flipping over the coffee table) or down the hallway (by putting up the baby gate). He was fine with that situation if I was in the living room with him, but if I went into the kitchen (to get him something to drink) he threw a royal hissy fit! Wowsas! Make me feel like a big, bad, evil witch when all I was doing was getting him a cup ready so he could take a nap! Another example of him yelling at me…I penned him up in our bedroom, just for a minute so that I could use the restroom, and by the time I got back in the room his face was bright red and he was screaming at the top of his lungs. Krys even came in there, again, to ask if I needed help. No, he just doesn’t want mom to go out of his sight.
