A life's journey

 slacking

i see that i am seriously slacking in the update department here.....

brief update on what is going on.

mikhai is potty training. he's doing wonderfully!! he wears big boy underwear ALL day with no accidents. he knows if he needs to go. there have been several times that he gets really quiet and when i go looking for him, he's sitting on the toilet. that's'a my boy!!!! lol. he goes poop in the toilet too (yeah, i know this is prolly tmi for some people, but it's a major accomplishment, or so i'm told) i think it's been well over a month since he's had a poop accident in his underwear. now peeing in his underwear...that's another story. we had a serious potty training set back this past weekend. i think most of it has to do with the fact that we haven't been home for the last week and a half. but we go home tonight so i'm hoping this weekend will be a lot better. i did so much laundry this weekend....i'm tired of it!!! lol.

our house is going to be even more cramped that it normally is for the next several months. my mom and her infinite "sucker-ness" has agreed to let my sister, her husband and two kids move in for a while until they get a place of their own here in town. i don't begrudge them the help from my mother. hell, she's done it for me.... my son is happy with the situation too. his "u-wick" is there all the time now. in case you don't know mikhai's language, that is uncle rick...lol. he's in love with their two sons too. one is 13 and the other is 9 and mikhai just loves to play with them. they're boys and they will chase each other around the house and horse-play. you can hear mikhai's squeal throughout the house most days. i love it. i always love it when he laughs.

seeing as how there are four more people in the house now, mikhai has moved back into my room. the day that i put his bed back in my room, i was making his bed and put his sheets and blankets on it and i put his pillow at the head of his bed and mikhai walked to the bed, grabbed his pillow and said "no". he then put it back on my bed and said "sleep here". well. alrighty then. if you say so.

my baby boy is the sweetest little man. we'll be playing and he'll kiss me and give me squeeze loves and say "lu-ya too". awwwww.... that's enough to just melt a mommy's heart.

 camping

i want to know whose insane idea it was for my family to go camping as a "family"....all 21 of the imediate family. i think the weekend would have gone fine, if not for the two trips to the emergency room that we had to make. the first trip to the ER was the first night. friday night llissa was getting a piggy back ride from gene and he tripped on a root and went down. well, so did llissa...on her head. at first she was saying she wasn't going to the ER, her ear was just cut and she was bleeding a little bit. mom looked at it and told her to get her butt moving. her ear was split from the top of the cartilidge to the hole. hard to explain without a visual, but it took 19 stithes to get it together again. this totally screwed any idea of going in the lake and having fun with the family for her the next day.

so, the next day, after we had finished with breakfast and were getting everything together to go to the lake, my son decides that he wants to swing on the tailgate for papa's truck. friday while we were still at the house he was swinging on papa's tailgate and fell and hit his head on the concrete. well, saturday morning, he didn't hit concrete, he hit rocks and one of them busted the back of his head open. i was doing fine and dandy with the damn thing until his grama saw it. "he needs stitches, get him to the emergency room" then she goes off and starts telling me horror stories of what they're gonna do to my poor baby. "i'm just getting you prepared" fuck that shit. i don't want to know, then i can sit there and come up with the worst possible scenario when i don't need to worry that much. and she wouldn't stop, so of course i started crying. "calm down" SHUT UP THEN! (ugh) anyway............dad says that he will go with me, but we have no clue how to get around town. so llissa, who was just there last night, said that she would drive us. i think after maybe 5-10 minutes of crying, my son was fine. he said ouch if his head got bumped, but otherwise he was back to his normal self. trying to attack everything in the car. at the hospital he was a very good boy and held very still when they wanted to look at his head. the nurse looked at it and said that hopefully we could just durabond it (glue it). the nurse cleaned it out and the dr came in and put the glue on. nothing to it. thank God! although, now i get to anticipate a $150 bill from the hospital for them to just glue my son's head. woohoo.

the nurse and the receptionist remembered llissa though and they were giving us a hard time about the two ER visits we had made already. they said they would reserve a parking spot for us. lol. then on the way out, my son is not looking where he is going, he's saying goodbye to the nurse, well, the automatic door is swinging open and just barely misses hitting his head by an inch or so. the nurse said, "maybe ya'll don't need to leave just yet...." lol.

for the rest of the weekend we were telling everyone that they better not get hurt. we are NOT going back to the ER anytime soon. if you get hurt, we are red-necking a bandage or sautering the wound closed. (we're bad...lol) we all do good. no one gets hurt and we make sure that my son stays off the damn tailgate. that lasts until sunday as we are just about to get in the vehicles and leave to go home. everything was packed up and we were making sure we had all the trash when my 4 year old nephew is swinging on the poles that we have told all the kids a million times not to play on. low and be-hold what does he do? falls. on the concrete. he winds up with a goose-egg on his forhead the size of a golfball.

damn, you'd think we could maybe get through one weekend without any injuries.

OH! OH! OH! lmao....my son learned how to pee standing up and into the bushes like a man!!!! there weren't really any toilets nearby so we had one of the boys take him down the trail and teach him. he caught on REAL quick and had a blast with it. i don't think he peed on himself but once the entire weekend. ms. tee told me that he was trying to stand up to go pee in the toilet. unfortunately, he's not tall enough for that yet. lol

 potty training

mikhai is now potty training and it's an adventure. for the first few weeks that ms. tee started, mikhai was excited! this was something new and all the other big kids go potty on the big potty (and you know he has to do everything they do). we had no issues getting him to go. we were treating him like a big kid and he got a treat every time that he was a big boy and didn't go in his pull-up. well, that novelty has worn off. now it's a chore and he really dislikes going...lol. he still goes, but you have to beg him, drag him, coerce him, whatever it takes to get him in there.

last week ms. tee discovered that if you put him in underware (and not a pull-up) he is more inclined to use the potty. he peed on himself once in the underware and didn't like the feeling as it was dripping down his legs. so she asked me if i would bring some underware for him to wear throughout the week and try that for a while. so i took her several pair and we'll see how he does. so wish us luck that he gets over this irritation with the potty soon! :o)

 2nd birthday

Mikhia's birthday was last friday. He's officially two, but when he tells you how old he is, he holds up five fingers...lol. jumping the gun a little bit, but most of the time he acts like one.

his weekend was full. friday night we went to dinner with grama and papa and then headed out to pick up cindy so we could go to the concert. the whole time we were there, mikhai was wide eyed staring at everything and trying to see everything at once. everyone thought he was just the cutest thing in the world and i got compliments from guys and girls alike. he was really a hit when he would high-five the guys. for some reason they just dig that...lol. he didn't want to miss any of the excitement so he was awake until 1:45 when we went to the car. once we moved the car, he was passed out. he didn't even budge when i took him out and upstairs. johnson met us out there and walked us out to the car. while we were walking, he kept getting mikhai to say his name and everytime mikhai did, johnson would just gush. as cindy says, "he was eatin that boys attention up". guys are so funny about kids sometimes.

saturday morning mikhai was up by about 8:30am. not much sleep for him there. we left the house about 10:30 for his b-day party. this year we killed three b-days with one party. krys, paige and mikhai had their party at Pump It Up. they have the moon bounce houses and obstacle courses. mikhai had been there once and he LOVED it. all the kids, from the age range of 2-42, have a blast. it honestly is fun for everyone. (it's not like mcd's where an adult has to a contortionist to get through their playground with a toddler.) so that was where his party was. his biggest present was a bike from grama and papa and let me tell you, that boy looks much older than his age when he has his helmet and pads on and is riding that thing. makes his mom just want to cry at how adorable he is. but he got cars, clothes, legos, etc....boy stuff. he loved it all!

after the b-day party was over, all the family (all about 25 of us) went back to mom and dad's and continued the party there. mikhai and i stayed for a little bit, but we had made dinner plans with jay so we left early. after dinner with jay (where mikhai insisted on being a big kid and playing on the video games) we went with cindy and her girls to jody and jen's for some more play time with their kids. mikhai had not had a nap all day so even though he was exhausted, he still didn't pass out until after 11:00 pm. i think he slept until 7:00 am so that was better for him.

sunday (since we stayed with jody and jen) we got up and jen cooked pancakes for everyone and of course my son ate like a little pig that he is. cindy and i went back to her place to get ourselves and the kids changed and then we headed out to the fort worth cats game. i've never been and they had some free tickets so of course we would like to go...lol. mikhai passed out on the way there and i think took a nap for an hour or so. he woke up before the game started and ran around like a monkey (to the irritation to his mommy..lol). we left after the game and i think we got home a little after 5 pm. even after all the activities of the weekend and him being worn out, he didn't want to miss anything that was going on with his grama and papa so we still didn't get to bed until 10 pm. sunday night though, he slept SOLID. he didn't even wake up when i took him to ms. tee. now those are the nights that i like...lol.

so mikhai had a very eventfull 2nd birthday weekend. i might try to do something like this for him each year. do several things for him and not just one big bash. it makes the day a little more special for us.

oh, i took him to get his hair cut and his pictures taken since he hasn't had them done since he was 7 months. i'll get to pick them up tonight. yay!!!
