i want to know whose insane idea it was for my family to go camping as a "family"....all 21 of the imediate family. i think the weekend would have gone fine, if not for the two trips to the emergency room that we had to make. the first trip to the ER was the first night. friday night llissa was getting a piggy back ride from gene and he tripped on a root and went down. well, so did llissa...on her head. at first she was saying she wasn't going to the ER, her ear was just cut and she was bleeding a little bit. mom looked at it and told her to get her butt moving. her ear was split from the top of the cartilidge to the hole. hard to explain without a visual, but it took 19 stithes to get it together again. this totally screwed any idea of going in the lake and having fun with the family for her the next day.
so, the next day, after we had finished with breakfast and were getting everything together to go to the lake, my son decides that he wants to swing on the tailgate for papa's truck. friday while we were still at the house he was swinging on papa's tailgate and fell and hit his head on the concrete. well, saturday morning, he didn't hit concrete, he hit rocks and one of them busted the back of his head open. i was doing fine and dandy with the damn thing until his grama saw it. "he needs stitches, get him to the emergency room" then she goes off and starts telling me horror stories of what they're gonna do to my poor baby. "i'm just getting you prepared" fuck that shit. i don't want to know, then i can sit there and come up with the worst possible scenario when i don't need to worry that much. and she wouldn't stop, so of course i started crying. "calm down" SHUT UP THEN! (ugh) anyway............dad says that he will go with me, but we have no clue how to get around town. so llissa, who was just there last night, said that she would drive us. i think after maybe 5-10 minutes of crying, my son was fine. he said ouch if his head got bumped, but otherwise he was back to his normal self. trying to attack everything in the car. at the hospital he was a very good boy and held very still when they wanted to look at his head. the nurse looked at it and said that hopefully we could just durabond it (glue it). the nurse cleaned it out and the dr came in and put the glue on. nothing to it. thank God! although, now i get to anticipate a $150 bill from the hospital for them to just glue my son's head. woohoo.
the nurse and the receptionist remembered llissa though and they were giving us a hard time about the two ER visits we had made already. they said they would reserve a parking spot for us. lol. then on the way out, my son is not looking where he is going, he's saying goodbye to the nurse, well, the automatic door is swinging open and just barely misses hitting his head by an inch or so. the nurse said, "maybe ya'll don't need to leave just yet...." lol.
for the rest of the weekend we were telling everyone that they better not get hurt. we are NOT going back to the ER anytime soon. if you get hurt, we are red-necking a bandage or sautering the wound closed. (we're bad...lol) we all do good. no one gets hurt and we make sure that my son stays off the damn tailgate. that lasts until sunday as we are just about to get in the vehicles and leave to go home. everything was packed up and we were making sure we had all the trash when my 4 year old nephew is swinging on the poles that we have told all the kids a million times not to play on. low and be-hold what does he do? falls. on the concrete. he winds up with a goose-egg on his forhead the size of a golfball.
damn, you'd think we could maybe get through one weekend without any injuries.
OH! OH! OH! lmao....my son learned how to pee standing up and into the bushes like a man!!!! there weren't really any toilets nearby so we had one of the boys take him down the trail and teach him. he caught on REAL quick and had a blast with it. i don't think he peed on himself but once the entire weekend. ms. tee told me that he was trying to stand up to go pee in the toilet. unfortunately, he's not tall enough for that yet. lol

mikhai is now potty training and it's an adventure. for the first few weeks that ms. tee started, mikhai was excited! this was something new and all the other big kids go potty on the big potty (and you know he has to do everything they do). we had no issues getting him to go. we were treating him like a big kid and he got a treat every time that he was a big boy and didn't go in his pull-up. well, that novelty has worn off. now it's a chore and he really dislikes going...lol. he still goes, but you have to beg him, drag him, coerce him, whatever it takes to get him in there.
last week ms. tee discovered that if you put him in underware (and not a pull-up) he is more inclined to use the potty. he peed on himself once in the underware and didn't like the feeling as it was dripping down his legs. so she asked me if i would bring some underware for him to wear throughout the week and try that for a while. so i took her several pair and we'll see how he does. so wish us luck that he gets over this irritation with the potty soon! :o)
